Sekou joins West Ham on an initial one-year contract with an option to purchase at the end of the season.
The talented left-footed midfielder will not however be joining up with his new team mates in the near future as it’s already been decided he will go on loan to Championship side Reading in order to gain some more first team experience.
Unfortunately Sekou’s signing will have done nothing to ease the huge disappointment Hammers fans are facing this morning, after the clubs apparent 11th hour move for Porto’s Benni McCarthy fell-through.
It was reported in various media sources late last night that the South-African striker had flown into East London to complete a club-record transfer only for the Portuguese side to pull the plug on the deal at the last minute after missing out on a transfer target of their own.
