The 23 year old who was only made just for four starts for West Ham this season say’s he is looking forward to the move.

"I am now really looking forward to joining up with Gillingham and will be doing my best to get into the team and score some goals." He also added "When the chance arrived to go to Gillingham I went and saw Alan Pardew and asked him for his thoughts.

"He told me that I had a lot of competition to get into the first team with the likes of Teddy, Sergei and Bobby and that the move would allow me to get some games under my belt, which would help improve my game and my confidence.

Nowland, who moved from Wimbledon in January, will be hoping that by gaining some first team experience, it will help him to compete for a regular place in the West Ham starting line up.

He will go straight into the Gillingham squad who travel south to face Plymouth Argyle at Home Park on Saturday.
