NRC: Don't blame me!

The 22-year-old has been a huge disappointment this season and has failed to live up to the standards he set last year when he was on the verge of being called up to the England World Cup squad.

After having his dream move to Arsenal or Manchester United on transfer deadline day rejected by the Hammers hierarchy, Reo-Coker has appeared disillusioned at times on the park and many Hammers fans hold him partly to blame for the clubs current lack of form and continuity and ultimately, Pardew's dismissal.

Nigel told ‘the Sun', “Everybody keeps saying I should be sacked and it's all my fault we've been doing so bad.

“Alan's departure was a shock to everyone. Alan is a really great bloke and I can't believe it has happened now.

“We had no idea he was going to get sacked. Half the team had left training when Pardew came out to tell everyone he was leaving.

“I called him later for a private chat and he thanked me for being a great captain. Unfortunately a lot of people don't feel the same way.

“I've really been getting it in the neck. I've had so much flak but no one knows what it is like behind the scenes and what has really been going on with the team.

“Now Pardew has gone it's only going to get worse for me, with people pointing the finger.”
