Pardew Defends Mullins Mistake

Mullins headed into his own net with just ten minutes remaining at the Hawthorns and the Hammers leading through Brian Deane's goal.

"Hayden was trying to put the ball out for a corner," Pardew said after the 1-1 draw.

"It was very unfortunate for him but we all make mistakes and we have to take them on the chin.

"There will be no recriminations. It was just one of those things. I am disappointed because tactically we subdued them and we defended very well.

"When we got our goal I honestly felt that Albion wouldn't score. But through good fortune they equalised and, at the end of the season, I'm sure they will consider themselves lucky to have taken four points off us."
