With The Hammers trailing 1-0 at the half time break the new striker was introduced from the substitutes bench for the second half and duly obliged by scoring the equaliser at Valley Parade.

"It was a great start for Bobby," Pardew said after the game.

"There was no way I was going to sell Jermain without signing a top draw player in exchange and I feel I've done that in Bobby. He's a Premiership player in the First Division.

"We were up against a team that had nothing to lose and Bradford had a real go at us. It wasn't until the second half that we started playing like a West Ham team should. With the way the other results have gone this is a big day for us.

"We've put ourselves in with a chance. We now have two massive games coming up and this win sets us up nicely for the Norwich game."
