Pardew Upbeat After Home Win

After an evenly contested first forty-five minutes Reading were probably the better side in the second half at Upton Park but the Hammers boss pointed to the resilience of the side as they held out until Teddy Sheringham grabbed the winner ten minutes from time.

"It was a terrific game," Pardew said after the match.

"I thought it was end-to-end stuff, and a little bit of quality at the end sealed it.

"For long periods they were the better team. Last year we would have drawn that game or lost it, but I would like to think there is a bit more resilience this year.

"It was too open at times, but if we have games like that and win that's good news for West Ham.

"Teddy continues to surprise us all. He looked excellent tonight."
