Well that has now been confirmed as Pompey have today made a bid believed to be around £3million for the one-time England international.
"We've made a very serious and fair offer to West Ham and I just hope they will accept it," Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric told BBC Radio Solent.
"We're expecting their reaction within the next 24 hours."
