Last seasons Hammer of the Year told Sky Sports News, “I'm looking forward to it.

“It was a tough season last year but we got there in the end and all the focus now is on The Premiership.

“Did I think about retiring? Not really. I had a special last year. The players are a great bunch of lads and the manager's brought in one or two new lads who have settled right in.

“Things are good on that front, it was going to be enjoyable so I had no hesitation [in signing a new deal].

“I want to be involved, I'm not here just to play a bit-part.

“I've signed because I want to play football and that's what I want to be doing throughout the season.

“Whether the manager has different ideas about that we will have to wait and see but I want to play a part.

“Having said that, everyone's got to play a part. We want to go for tenth spot and be in a sound position before the end of the season.

“We've got to get off to a good start in this Premier League and that's what we will try to do.”
