An article in this morning’s Sun newspaper claimed that Reds’ boss Rafa Benitez was set to make a £3 million big for the 20-year-old defender.
Scott Duxbury, the club's legal advisor, is quoted on the official site as saying “These rumours are utter nonsense. Anton has come up through the Club’s Academy and made tremendous progress this season.
“He was a vital part of the side that won promotion, and our aim is to now build on that side and take the Club forward on the pitch.”
It is also being reported by various sections of the media that the Hammers will complete the free-signing of former Manchester United goalkeeper Roy Carroll on Tuesday.
