Speaking following the game Allardyce said, “It’s very, very important not to be in the bottom three, for confidence and for just getting out of there and we’ve got out of there at the first time of asking.
“The longer you are in there, the harder it gets because everybody starts talking about negativity and relegation this and that.
“There was a huge amount of pressure on in year two at Bolton and we got out of it at the first time of asking and we may have said and made excuses that we didn’t deserve to be in there, but the fact was that while our performances were good enough, our results weren’t good enough.
“We’ve put three points on the board in style by the way we’ve played and the way we set the tactics out.”
