Sheringham limped off with a hamstring strain, replaced by Bobby Zamora in Saturday’s game with Brighton, which saw the Hammers move above Reading in the Championship table and into a play-off spot, despite conceding a late equaliser.

Pardew conceded, “Teddy's injury is the biggest worry to have come out of the game.


“He has been on such a great run and you could see with some of his link-up play how important he is.”
