Sheringham, who is now 39, has netted 21 goals for the Hammers this year and has been inspirational in keeping Alan Pardew’s side in with a chance of promotion, all be it via the play-offs.

Speaking on Sky Sports 1 yesterday Teddy said “There has been no offer yet but I'm still enjoying myself so I'd like to carry on playing.”

West Ham’s managing director Paul Aldridge has however indicated that the club is not ready to discuss things at the moment. He said “
We haven't talked to Teddy yet. There is plenty of time.”
