The 21-year-old came to Upton Park from French side Auxerre in June 2002 on a four-year deal but has in the past been criticised for his lack of effort and commitment.
Sofiane made two appearances for the first team but has also spent time out on loan at French side Lille, Notts County and Dutch side Roda JC.
