Up to six players may be deemed surplus to requirements and high-earners Lucas Neill, Freddie Ljungberg and Kieron Dyer may be some of the first asked to leave.

Neill is on a reported £80,000 per week however his form this season has been erratic at best and his constant globe-trotting trips to play for Australia have not gone down well within the Hammers hierarchy.

Kieron Dyer has only played a few competitive games since his move from Newcastle last summer after breaking his leg and Freddie Ljungberg has been in and out of action all year will a series of minor injuries.

Despite reports to the contrary, the Hammers will not be looking to offload their prized assets Rob Green, Dean Ashton and Mark Noble.
