Rahim: On Trial
When both Don Hutchison and Steve Lomas were injured in the Middlesbrough match back in February, in light of the fact that Michael Carrick had recently undergone a double hernia operation, Glenn announced that he was going to bring some extra players in:

"It is the last thing that we need at the moment," Roeder said when talking about the injury crisis at the time. "It means that I have to work even harder to try to find a couple of loan signings before transfer deadline day.

"There are a lot of players out there that are quite ordinary, and I don't particularly think that they will bring a lot to us. But we have got probably a couple of weeks now to try and really dig out now a couple of quality loan signings."

However, there have been no loan signings as of yet, although he has recently taken on a couple more players on trial at Upton Park to see if they might be worth taking on loan.

The two latest trialists at Upton Park are both from Shaka Hislop's home country of Trinidad and Tobago. Nigel Pierre, is a young striker who is at Upton Park for his second trial.

Harry Redknapp had him on loan this in March last year, and decided not to take the young striker, either on loan, or on a permanent transfer for a fee rumoured to be in the region of £1m at the time.

Pierre also had a five-month loan period at Bristol Rovers, but only managed to get 1 start in that time. He has also had unsuccessful trials at Hibernian and Gillingham. He has also been invited for a trial at Norwegian club Moss FK later this month.

23-year-old midfielder Brent Raheen currently plies his trade in Bulgaria with Levski Sofia is at Upton Park for a ten-day trial. Both players are likely to feature in tonight's reserve fixture at Coventry City.

Assistant manager Paul Goddard told the club site "They have both shown quite a bit of ability in training, but you need to see them in competitive games and we will be looking at that in the reserve match. Nigel, a centre forward, plays alongside Dwight Yorke for the national team, and he has shown ability in training."

It remains to be seen if any of the many players that are at Upton Park are suitable candidates for a loan signing, but with the trio of Moncur, Lomas and Carrick nearing first team returns, it appears the need for signings isn't quite as urgent as it was.
