With new ‘keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen between the sticks, Captain Kevin Nolan playing with Mark Noble in the middle and Vaz Te and Maynard up-front it came as no surprise when the Hammers took the lead through the former.

Defender Jordan Spence then added a second with a stunning strike before half time.

Nicky Maynard was replaced with Sam Baldock at half time and Baldock continued his fine pre-season form with the decisive third goal after 64 minutes.

The result never looked in doubt after that and the Hammers comfortably saw out the rest of the game.
