Three Hammers in Sven's Squad

Cole: More caps?
After taking three Hammers to the World Cup - Trevor Sinclair, Joe Cole and David James (who didn't feature) - Sven has decided not to add to our trio of World Cup lions.

Despite a poor performance at Upton Park on Saturday, with the Swedish English boss watching from the stands, Sven clearly sees something in our youngsters - and the experience in the England camp can only be a good thing, surely.

Jermain Defoe has not yet got onto the scoresheet for the Hammers so far this season, and narrowly misses out on selection, as does Michael Carrick, who had a stinker in front of the England manager on Saturday.

There are a few surprises in the squad, with David Seaman and Nigel Martyn both notable by their absence. David James must surely get the nod ahead of Paul Robinson - the only other goalie included in the squad.

Leeds duo Lee Bowyer and Jonathan Woodgate are included in the squad for the first time under since the Swede took control of the England side. Only three strikers are named: Heskey, Owen and Alan Smith.

You predicted Sven would include three Hammers in his side, although many of you were optimistic that Sven would include a fourth too - see results of that latest poll at the bottom of this page.

The full squad for the Portugal match on Saturday 7th September is as follows:
