Toddy: Off to Pompey

23 year old Bulgarian striker Svetoslav Todorov's drawn-out chance to reunite with Harry Redknapp, now at Portsmouth, moved a step closer earlier today.

The home office has at last granted the young forward a work permit, following negotiations concerning the number if international appearances he has played in. In fact he had not played in the required number of games, but it was argued that it was due to injury as opposed to lack of selection.

With personal terms agreed with the South coast club, only a medical stands in the way of a permanent move, and that is scheduled to take place on Wednesday. Providing that goes through without a hitch, he could make his Pompey debut on Saturday against Crewe.

Toddy spoke to the official site earlier today: "I think it is happy and sad; sad in one way but happy in another. I still have to have a medical and if everything is okay with this I will be happy to be playing football again, because I need to do that.

"The experience I have had has been good for me, and it is my ambition to get back in the Premiership again because it is the best championship in the world. The supporters at West Ham are great, the players are too, and I have had a good relationship with everybody - they are nice people there and I really loved the fans.

"But it was very difficult with all the good strikers there, so now I am looking to play regular football again."
