The Hammers defender last played for England under Sven Goran-Eriksson but has been frozen out ever since.

Upson told the Daily Star, "Playing for England is a massive target for me and is the one personal achievement I would love to achieve again.

"It has been three-years since my last cap and for me it is all about changing people's opinions about me.

"I think I am doing that every week with the way I am playing and the style I am trying to play with.

"Whoever takes over the England job, hopefully it will be a clean slate for everyone.

"I am pleased with my form and how things are going. I am working hard and being as consistent as I can be. I am getting better and working on the things I need to improve myself."
