Last season Elliot formed a formidable central defensive partnership with Anton Ferdinand and was part of the team that won in Cardiff and saw the Hammers return to the Premiership. This year however, he has seen his first-team chances limited following the summer arrival of Danny Gabbidon from Cardiff.
The 20-year-old defender has only made one Premiership appearance this year, that coming in the 2-1 defeat by Bolton Wanderers in August.
West Ham have officially confirmed that Ward will join up with his new team-mates this afternoon and go straight into Tony Pulis' squad for the Pilgrims' game against Sheffield Wednesday.
