West Ham 06/07 Season Review DVD

Last updated : 25 May 2007 By Plymouth_hammer

The 2006/07 was a season that will live long in the memory for West Ham United fans, as the Club narrowly escaped relegation in a climax that saw arguably the league's most controversial player secure Premiership status for the East London side.

Carlos Tevez, the Club's Argentinean striker was the man whose form peaked at the perfect moment to clinch an inconceivable seven wins from the last nine matches of the season to secure 'The Greatest Escape'!

In a season crammed with incident; tragedy, nobility, infamy and heroism in equal measures, the club faced the challenge of picking themselves up following the spot kick lottery that saw them come within inches of lifting the FA Cup the previous season.

The ever-present West Ham faithful were treated to a season of highs and lows, that saw the Club competing for European honours led by a wave of new signings. But following the exit from the UEFA Cup the Club were looking for a new lease of life, and up stepped Icelandic businessman, Eggert Magnusson; a lifetime fan and believer in the club, and a man who did not appreciate or understand the concept of failure.

Changes continued with the appointment of new manager, Alan Curbishley, who following a difficult start, lifted the team to ensure that the 2007/08 season would still see West Ham United competing for glory in the English Premier League.
