West Ham Eyeing Cut-Price Swoop for Napoli Misfit Hirving Lozano

West Ham United's Premier League status may be shrouded in doubt due to the current pause in the football calendar, but the east London club is remaining optimistic with its choice of transfer targets.

The Hammers had been hanging perilously over the relegation zone before the coronavirus outbreak brought the fixture list to a halt, but coach David Moyes is already assessing his attacking options with survival in mind.

And according to Area Napoli, the Irons are keeping a close eye on Napoli star Hirving Lozano, who ticks all the required boxes of providing an excellent alternative to their current wing and attacking options.

The Mexican forward landed in Naples with huge expectations at the start of the 2019/20 campaign, but his season has failed to take off, having found himself on the bench for the majority of the time under both Carlo Ancelotti and Gennaro Gattuso.

Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis may be willing to cash in on Lozano while he still has some credit left in the bank, and should West Ham offer around €30m for the pacy winger, then the Serie A side may find it hard to refuse.

The Partenopei would have been expecting to recoup more for the 24-year-old, but his poor form, combined with the potentially negative impact of the coronavirus crisis on the transfer market, means that they could be willing to accept lower offers.

While many will doubt the ability of Lozano, having failed to adapt to life away from former club PSV Eindhoven, there is no question that he is an electric, direct and exciting prospect who would add plenty of dynamism to this struggling West Ham side.

The signing of Lozano could be exactly what the Hammers need to improve their current crop of players, but they'll have to avoid relegation from the Premier League to make the move possible.
