West Ham Open Talks With Amiens Over Loan Deal for Striker Serhou Guirassy

West Ham have begun talks with French Ligue 1 side Amiens over the possibility of a loan move for striker Serhou Guirassy.

The 23-year-old joined Les Licornes in a £5m deal from Bundesliga side F.C Köln in the summer but has suffered an inconsistent start to life at the Stade de la Licorne.

With his side currently languishing in 18th place in the French league table, Guirassy has found the net just four times and assisted once in 17 games so far this season.

Amiens had been hopeful of securing a permanent transfer away from the club for the French-born striker. However, the lack of time left in the January transfer window has left the Ligue 1 outfit prepared to loan Guirassy out for the remainder of the 2019/20 season, including an option to buy.

Sky Sports reveal that West Ham have entered talks with Amiens over the possibility of signing Guirassy on a six-month loan with an option of a permanent transfer upon the conclusion of the season.

Despite his recurring muscular issues keeping him out of action for large periods of his career at Lille and F.C Köln, a number of Premier League clubs, including Leicester City and Aston Villa, were reportedly interested in the services of the striker.

The Hammers have been linked with a move for the target man due to a lack of goal threat from summer signings Sébastien Haller and Albian Ajeti, who have so far failed to impress and have scored a combined total six Premier League goals between them.

Despite perhaps not constituting an out-and-out goal-getter, Guirassy possesses an extremely valuable work ethic, something which the Irons currently do not have in their ranks, and could offer something different for David Moyes.

A loan deal would not represent a heavy expense for West Ham and could potentially spell the end for Ajeti, who has failed to register a single league goal during his time at the London Stadium.
