West Ham United winger Grady Diangana could be allowed to spend another year on loan at West Bromwich Albion if his parent club avoid relegation from the Premier League this season.
The 22-year-old winger joined West Brom on loan in the summer of 2019 after making his first Premier League appearances with West Ham the season before. Despite injury limiting his involvement in the second half of the campaign, Diangana has enjoyed a promising term in England's second tier with five goals and six assists in 21 games.
His performances were so impressive that he earned a new long-term contract at the turn of the year and there was even talk of West Ham recalling the youngster in January as they battled the threat of relegation. But the Hammers resisted the urge to bring back the talented England Under-21 international and his stay in the Midlands may be extended even longer.
According to Football Insider, West Ham and manager David Moyes remain undecided on the Diangana's future as they hold off on any decision until the end of the Premier League season.
West Ham are 16th in the Premier League and only above the relegation zone by virtue of goal difference. If the east London side do avoid the drop, Diangana could very well be afforded another season of first-team football with former Hammers boss Slaven Bilić at West Brom.
It is unlikely a permanent deal could be agreed between the two clubs as the Premier League side reportedly value Diangana at more than £20m.
If West Ham succumb to relegation, the club will, in all likelihood, be forced to sell some of their high-profile signings of recent seasons having splashed the best part of £200m across the last two years. Diangana would then find his path to the starting XI much less congested and kept at the club to return them to the top tier.
But before any decisions are taken, Diangana's immediate future lies in the Midlands as West Brom mount a final promotion assault with nine Championship games remaining.
