Winston Reid - West Hams Player of the Year

The strong 6ft 3in central defender rounded off an outstanding campaign by collecting the prestigious award, as voted for by West Ham United supporters, gaining an impressive 45% of the votes.

"I think every single player tries to do their best for the team and I do the same," said Reid. "As an individual it's nice to pick up this award.?

"It is quite an accolade to be named Hammer of the Year. Like I said on stage, I have basically been here nearly three years at the Club and I feel at home, so it's nice to feel appreciated. Other players have done well, too, so it's been really good.?

"I am really pleased with the season that I have had and I'm looking forward to the new season!"

Reid is only the third player to win the award from outside of Europe. He joins the list of West Ham legends such as Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst, Trevor Brooking, Billy Bonds, Julian Dicks and Paolo Di Canio to win the award.

The New Zealand international has played in 34 of West Ham's 36 Barclays Premier League fixtures this season and as part of the back four for ten of the Hammers' eleven clean sheets.

Reid has played an inspirational role to helping Sam Allardyce's men not only establish themselves back in the top flight, but push for a top half finish.

The 24 year old relieved many West Ham fans last month after signing a new contract until 2015 and expressing that he had really enjoyed it at the Boleyn Ground and is looking forward to a bright future at the club.

Reid also picked up Players' Player of the Year voted by the players of the first-team at West Ham United.
