Zamora - Stamp was an accident

Zamora came on for West Ham as a substitute, replacing Teddy Sheringham late into the second half.

Both players were running towards the corner flag when Talbot went down in front of Bobby. It appeared Bobby stamped on Talbot, and so, was show the yellow card after referee Graham Poll had consulted with his linesman.

Bobby said “I was running full pelt and he fell in front of me; barring doing the splits, which I didn't fancy doing, that was the only place I could put my foot”.

“I think Graham Poll knows me and he sort of took that into account - he knows I am not a malicious player.”

“It is not my thing to be like that, I thought I was quite innocent, and I just stood still to see what came after it happened.”

After the incident Derby’s Mo Konjic (along with others) ran half the length of the pitch to confront Zamora and was also shown the yellow card for the small fracas that ensued.

Bobby added, “I thought the yellow card was a little bit unfair but it is obviously better than a red, which people were trying to get me!”

West Ham manager Alan Pardew defended Bobby by saying “It was over-enthusiasm - nothing malicious.”

Derby’s manager, George Burley was not so happy so with the decision when
speaking in a post match press conference: “Zamora certainly stamped on our player,” he said. “Normally a blatant stamp is a red card but the referee obviously didn't think it was intentional.”

"I thought it was deliberate. That's how it goes."
