Bellamy Raising His Game

His capture raised a few eyebrows but Alan Curbishley's new signing says he's happy to compete for a starting place and will be working to raise his game to do so.

"What I like about here is if you don't perform well you don't play, that's really how it should be," he told Sky Sports News.

"That's what I'm looking forward to. Raising my game and being at a certain level to make sure I play every week."

And the 28 year old Wales forward is confident his new club has every chance of pushing for Europe.

"I do believe this club has a good chance, only the year before it was in Europe.

"With the players we've added we do believe we can push on and hopefully, in the next few years, we can be in Europe year in, year out."
