Benayoun interested in Liverpool

The situation is reminicsent of last season, when in the buildup to the FA Cup final, Benayoun told the national press he had agreed a new 5 year deal. He did not sign then, and he has yet to do so now.

It is believed the flamboyant midfielder is stalling in the hope Liverpool will make a bid which will allow him to talk about a move to the scousers.

An initial bid has been rejected, thought to be in the region of 1 and 3 million pounds and labelled 'insulting' and derisory.

Meanwhile, despite late interest from Spurs, it is thought that Darren Bent will complete his move to the Hammers in the next few days, as reports suggest he is currently undergoing a medical this evening. This comes as Eggert Magnusson today shunned lazy papertalk on the official site and revealed an exciting new signing should be unveiled shortly.
