Alan Curbishley has reiterated that Yossi Benayoun will remain a West Ham player and will sign a new five year contract.

Despite suggestion that the Israeli playmaker had already signed the bumper deal on 25th May, it has been revealed that the deal was agreed but is as yet unsigned.

This revelation led to the resurfacing of speculation that the player could be waiting on a move to Liverpool, a rumour which began after Benayoun impressed in the dramatic '05-06 FA Cup final between the clubs.

Curbishley says the midfielder spoke with him on Wednesday and confirmed his intention to sign the package, and is quoted on the Premier League website:

"Yossi phoned up yesterday (Wednesday) to reiterate that he is coming here tomorrow (Friday) to sign it," said Curbishley.

"He is a terrific player and one who wants to be here. It is not a bad commitment, five years. It is the same as Scotty and we are delighted."
