Fulham Fight Ahead - match buildup

Last updated : 14 September 2005 By Barney French
West Ham have only had one away game to contend with so far this season, which resulted in a well earned draw against Newcastle United, a team who are yet to find their feet. Fulham also need a change in favour but West Ham should surely fancy themselves to beat them.

The Hammers are looking fiesty up front with 8 goals from 4 games, tough at the back conceding just 3, compared to Fulham who have scored just 4 in 5 and conceded 7. Nevertheless one of those games was a tough trip to Highbury and of the 2 games they've played at Craven Cottage they remain unbeaten but have only scored 1 goal.

The dangermen will be captain Luis Boa Morte, Steed Malbranque, and possibly Radzinski, but Fulham lack an allround quality, and it's hard to see where the strength of their squad lies. Striker Brian McBride has 3 goals to his name this season and could be one to watch.

Marlon Harewood will have saved his spot in the first team after his combative hat-trick on Monday so the team could easily remain unchanged though Aliadiere may find himself having more of a game. I'd tip Teddy for a goal.

No Premiership game can be expected to roll over for the Hammers, but having comfortably and admirably competed with arguably stronger sides than Fulham in their first 4 games, West Ham have to be favourites.
