Terrific Tomka

'Tomka' - whose excellent header in West Ham's 1-1 draw with Everton just glanced narrowly onto Tim Howard's crossbar - had more luck this time, as the imposing centre-back opened the scoring as early as the 19th minute.

James Henry beat his markers and crossed from the left flank for Tomkins to put his side in front with a powered header.

And it was the number 5 on the scoresheet again on 59 minutes, pouncing to a rebound and tapping in when Aluko's shot from a free-kick was palmed out by Russian keeper Polyakov.

Russia got one back through a terrific freekick courtesy of Pesegov, but it was not long before England had another through Andy Carroll.

The Hammers' Junior Stanislas also played in the match, being a 66 minute substitute.
