Having signed a permanent deal with the Hammers along with highly rated Javier Mascherano (both 22) Tevez indicated that he chose to play for West Ham, despite interest from Arsenal and Manchester United, all because he wanted regular first team football.

"West Ham is a team where I can get a rhythm and see what English football is all about,"

"It's going to do me a lot of good to play in this league."

"First I want to do well for West Ham. I'm not concerned about playing in a big club. I just want to play."

Kia Joorabchian of MSI, the company who initiated the move speaks on soccer365.com:

"It is preposterous to say they have just come here to be put in the shop window," said a source close to Kia Joorabchian.

"There are no plans at all for them to move. This is the best place for them to be and show their talent to the full extent. It is good for West Ham.

"They are obviously not going to play in a team that is struggling against relegation but, if it all goes well, they will stay at West Ham.
