This Week at West Ham

West Ham are firmly linked with Luke Young from Charlton. Young claims he is disappointed with the conduct of his management and despite being manager-less is annoyed that they have missed three seperate deadlines to table a new deal for him. In response, Young makes a transfer request.

Chairman Murray reacts furiously to West Ham's interest, reportedly offering the 26 year old full-back in the region of 1.5million a year (or approx 25k p/week) to sign a new deal.

---------

Gabri, the Barca player, (who interested Pardew in January but did not sign because the contract offered was only 2 years and did not want to play at right-back), signs for Ajax.

---------

The club's Chadwell Heath training ground has a makeover with work beginning to add undersoil heating to the pitch which will allow for better winter training

--------

Joe Cole praises The Academy Of Football saying: "the fact that we have so many England players who developed their skills at Upton Park is a great credit to the club."

"There seems to be a supply of young talent and I know other clubs are envious of the talent West Ham produce."

---------

Hugely unconvinced West Ham fans cautiously welcome Lee Bowyer back to the Boleyn for his second spell at the team he loves. Bowyer, now 29, took a large pay cut of around 20-25k to join the Hammers saying: "I'm desperate to do well for West Ham, this is my club.''

For those Irons who are cynical of his first period at the club Bowyer had this to say: "I didn't play well last time. I had an ankle injury and kept playing which was to nobody's benefit."

And for those worried about the discipline from the man with the bad boy image, Alan Pardew tried to calm any fears, maintaining that any misbehaviour would lead to immediate dismissal:

"All those incidents that Lee has been involved with down the years have taught him lessons and everyone deserves another chance. I will not tolerate any other incidents, he now needs to have a clean bill of health."

The World Cup is fine, but it's nothing like following the boys in Claret and Blue, so here's to next season: COME ON YOU IRONS!!
