Typical West Ham. Leading after 12 minutes through a Paolo di Canio converted penalty, they conceded within quarter of an hour with Angel scoring a header which just defeated James. Then - to make matters even worse, the Hammers conceded a late late goal by England man of the moment Vassell (30 seconds before the whistle) to give Villa all the points.
The result means that West Ham's chances of European qualification this season have all but been extinguished, with Villa up on 41 points, and us remaining on 34 - still perilously close to the relegation zone, which is still a distinct possibility for the Irons.
