Sinclair: Deflected goal
Roeder relegated Jermain Defoe to the bench and handed Vladimir Labant his first start as he wisely selected 4-4-2 and pushed Sebastien Schemmel up to right midfield.

Ian Pearce took the right back spot with Dailly and Repka in the centre of defence. Di Canio and Kanoute both looked dangerous at times in a match that featured more of West Ham than a lacklustre Everton.

It took a single goal a quarter of an hour after half time to separate the sides when Joe Cole's well struck shot took a huge deflection off the chest of Trevor Sinclair to head into the bottom left corner of the net.

The result moves West Ham up into the top half of the table once more, lying in 10th place. A full match report will appear here soon.
