Result: West Ham 1 - 0 Middlesbrough

West Ham beat Middlesbrough today at Upton Park, with Freddie Kanoute scoring from a Labant through ball following a distastrous bit of keeping by Boro goalie Mark Schwarzer in the 76th minute.

In a strictly refereed match, Middlesbrough's fortunes were made even worse by the late sending off of Ugo Ehiogu - his second in two games at the Boleyn - for a second yellow card. Paul Judas Ince was also booked at the end of the match for dissent.

The result puts the Hammers in the top half of the table, although with other games still to play this weekend, the Hammers could slip back down again. Nevertheless, it is an important three points for the Hammers.
