Result: West Ham 2 - 3 Chelsea

Despite being a goal ahead twice in the match, West Ham lost the match in the dying seconds when it appeared to be heading for extra time.

Jermain Defoe was the Hammers man of the moment with a powerful first strike that somehow found the back of the net, and a well taken poacher's goal for his, and the Hammers second.

In between the two though, Hasselbaink scored from a dubious free-kick, and then Forsell made it two a-piece from a Hutchison error. Their third came within seconds of the final whistle, from the head of John Terry.

Unfortunate in the extreme, the Hammers certainly deserved more from this tie - at least extra time. A full match report will appear on Thursday. In the meantime, have a rant about it on our messageboard.
