On todays performance, Joe Cole should have cemented his place in the England squad, whilst Trevor Sinclair will be causing Sven Goran Eriksson pleasing selection dilemnas.

Cole had the ball in the back of the net as early as 7 minutes, but his effort was dubiously ruled out for offside. Luckily that decision would not come back to haunt the Hammers as the claret 'n' blue youngster took the game by the scruff of the neck and showed both sets of fans some mesmerising football.

Sinclair, playing up front in place of the ill Fredi Kanoute scored the first goal after 28 minutes with a 20 yard half volley. Steve Lomas added a second on 52 minutes, before Jermain Defoe made it 3 on 77 from a header.

The result sees the Hammers remain 7th in the Premiership with a game in hand over most teams near them, as well as a three point gap.
